Remi rolled her eyes to the sky. “Why do you have to be so dramatic? Lars is clueless. He thinks I occupy my time with gay decorators trying to decide on color palettes.”

“And I want to keep it that way. So before you insist, we will not, I repeat will not, be fucking around when your husband is in town. Is that clear?”

“Whatever!” Remi said, and punched the end call button. “Men!” she huffed.

“What about them?”

Startled, Remi swung around at the sound of the voice. She hoped the person hadn’t heard her entire conversation. “Hey, Liza. How long have you been standing there?”

“I just came above deck. I was in my stateroom getting ready. Like my outfit?” she asked, spinning around.

Remi checked out Liza’s white silk halter gown, which she wore with a thin silver belt wrapped around her slim waist. The belt buckle was encrusted with diamonds, which complemented the large, teardrop diamonds dangling from her earlobes, neck, and wrists.

“Wow! Aren’t you iced up!”

“You think the diamonds are too much?”

“They are a bit over the top,” Remi told her.

“I want to be blinged out to catch Donovan’s attention. You know how rappers love diamonds.” Liza’s scheme to seduce Donovan wasn’t working according to plan. Even though they had met several times before the party to iron out the details, he hadn’t given her a second look. He was all business. Tonight Liza wanted to show him that she was a party girl and not a stuck-up Hamptonite.

“He won’t be able to miss you with all that blingage,’” Remi said, putting her fingers up to make air quotes.
